Letter from Søren Lindquist who participated in a GRC Racing Event in April 2008 An extraordinary experience All four of us had been looking forward to the Friday/Saturday where gardening, cleaning and weekend relaxing had been traded for a visit to Nürburg Ring with GRC Racing Team. And let us say it right away – it was an extraordinary experience! We went in without really knowing what it was all about, but when we were back in our car heading to Denmark, we were overthrown by the experiences we had got during the last 24 hours. For example we got a transcendent lap on Nürburg - wonderful experience - as "Beifahrer" in a roaring Aston Martin, the rest of afternoon we were in the pit area, getting to know it all. So the next day on the real "race day" we knew a bit of what was going to happen - And then again not, for what we saw was a racing at Nürburg with loads of horsepower. Thousands of joyful spectators, hundreds of service people, racing marshals, flag holders and 34 pits filled up with a little tense mechanics, drivers and helpers. Yes, it was not exactly Roskilde Ring we had come to. The air was thick with adrenalin just before start and that whole scene was very thrilling. 4 hours of racing followed with hundreds of cars on track in different classes - an impressing set up with lots of good racing, and all the time we were close to the happenings, cause GRC and their crew made sure we were always in the center of what happened with lunch directly from the transporter behind the pit, chatting with the driver after they had switched seat, internal transfer to nice sights around the track and more visiting in the pit. Yes, it was definitely an unusual experience - of the good kind! And it was a bit lame to be back in your own standard car on your way home to Denmark. An hour passed by before I had to realize that it was going to be in a little more moderate speed, than we has witnessed at Nürburg. |
